Before the flames start, I did try to search on this, but couldn't find anything for my situation.
I'm the 2nd owner of this bike, and was told it has a Stage1 upgrade, and I do have the SERT that was provided to me with the bike. The pipes around the collector for the 2-1-2 exhaust are blue behind the heat shields. Is this normal, or should I bring the bike into the dealer to check the tune? I have about a month of warrentee left, so I need to get this taken care of now if there is an issue.
Nothing better for the bike (and the pipe color) than a perfect tune.
Unfortunately a dealership rarely has the ability to do a perfect tune, and they damn sure wouldn't do it for free under warranty.
An independant tuner with a reputation of quality tuning, is your only answer.
However, if the bike runs good for you, forget about it and let the shields hide it.
Don't even waste your time with the dealer,.... we already know what he will tell you.
The pipes are not hard chrome coated like the mufflers are so blueing is normal and usually happens within a few miles on the odometer. Now if you change the pipes to a full chrome set and get blueing then you have a problem! Ride and enjoy, your scoot is fine.
