With the air cleaner I got an increase from 58 HP to 63 HP and BLUE PIPES! Too much air not enough fuel = lean mixture which = BLUE PIPES
With the a custom fuel map I got to 72 HP and now the pipes stay chrome, no more bluing.
I'd say it was worth it but then again some prefer to clean their pipes after every ride!
You gained 14 HP by adding nothing more than an air cleaner? That's how I interpreted it. I thought the post about the air cleaner and the tune was with the poster adding only an air cleaner and nothing else (no pipes).

SE A/C and a PCIII with custom Dyno Tune to create a custom fuel map.
Not just Air Cleaner...
SE kit with K&N $130
PCIII $400
Professional Dyno To and Map $260
Yes, that's what I meant. An air cleaner and a tune (map and dyno) and you gained 14 HP? The mufflers and headpipe are stock, correct?
Yes they are stock,
58 HP is the published HP for my 2002 FLHTCI
I Saw the dyno runs and watched the process. Not sure how Bruce could have made up the numbers that the dyno spit out but I guess it is possible.
A buddy of mine has an 03 FLHTCI and he has pipes but no A/C and he cant keep up with me.
I will add my .02 to back up his claim. I have a factory 103 limited. I have ac, se 255 cams, TTS tuner, and tried different combos to get the noise level to where i wanted it. For a while I ran the totally stock exhaust with the tuner, ac and cams installed. The bike still ran very well, and MUCH stronger than stock. No custom dyno tune either. Just a TTS map for the 255 cam. The torque was way up, Hp was way up. The last combo was going back to the Fuel moto Jackpot 3 1/2 inch dyno tuned mufflers with the quiet baffle, ac, cams, and TTS map. I give that credit for some more Hp on top of the already good results with the stock muffs and head pipe. All in all, my experience leads me to recommend an air cleaner/tune only for those who want a great gain and stock exhaust tone or noise level. It all seems to be in line with the $$ I spent on each item, with one exception. Low speed torque didn't seem to be reduced with the stock exhaust.
