So the retailer says that I went beyond 30 days so no refund.
Fuel Moto also gives a double warranty on PC's and PV's, which is two years. If it goes bad, which is very unlikely, they will deal with it themselves. They may also extend warranties of other tuner products too, so if interested I would ask.

Would be interesting to see the statistics and what eventually occurs to the ECM. Friend of mine went to Harley School. We have talked about tuners and nothing was mentioned. Just did a little searching found this in an older thread on the forum.

this thread got my feathers a little ruffled, because it says a lot about the state of mind some stealers are in. has it come to a point where the average HD dealer can simply not be trusted? i e mailed power commander tech support last night, this is what was said:

Hello,
I have a 2004 Harley Davidson Road King Classic. I am running a stage 1 air
cleaner, Reinhart true duals and a PowercommanderIII USB. I am hearing
several people claim that the use of the power commander voids my warranty,
and that I can expect the powercommander to cause my ECU to fail. I don't
buy it, but I would like to hear your take on this situation. I have used
powercommanders on sportbikes, and never had a problem. Thank you for your
help in this matter,

Sascha Krumnow

Sascha,

This is absolutely not true. This is usually a scare tactic used to get you
to buy something else. The Power Commander cannot void your warranty, unless
it damages the bike and the manufacturer can prove it. There are laws
against this. The Power Commander is incapable of damaging the bike as it
sends no current to the bike/ECM. All it does is intercept the injector
pulse width signal (a ground) and fire the injectors (by grounding them). It
is basically a really fast, accurate ground. It does not generate current.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them, or feel free to
call our tech line at 800-992-4993.

Some dealers have been passing around misinformation for years about what a Power Commander can or cannot do, however the fact of the matter is that it will not affect the ECM in any way. There are literally hundreds of thousands of PC equipped bikes on the road and in my 10 years of working with the products all day, everyday I have yet to see a specific example of a PC induced ECM failure first hand.

As far as the OP's issue, there is very likely an issue with the PC harness. We have seen on early 818-511 08 Touring PC III's that the harness could be damaged very easily during the install. Dynojet will be able to diagnose this or any other issue when they get the unit back.

Received a package from DynoJet today. Inside was a new replacement power commander for the old unit I was having problems with. Installed the new power commander and it works great. No problems idleing and my old maps work great. Thanks DynoJet for stepping up to the plate and replacing the old unit. Also, thanks to those that posted to this thread.

How exactly does one "dyno tune" "what the factory provided" without an aftermarket tuner?

You know something we dont?
