Not sure what amp you are thinking about using, but I can tell ya there are lots out there using more power than that without any trouble. We will wait for Carl and GP to chime in, but I bet you will have no trouble at all.

Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions.
I know that the Ultra has a beefed up charging system, but......I run 1200 watts ( 2 ALPINE PDX 4.150 amps ), and have never had any trouble. They drive 8 speakers and a 7" flip -out DVD screen.
I too, thought that the charging system / battery would be a problem. Even bought an extra battery to run a dual battery set-up. But,...haven't needed it. Been running strong for 2 years.
Someone probably has the specs for the charging systems , between the 2 bikes.
However, ...if you're talking an amp and mini speakers with no head unit,..........I'm sure you'll be way fine.

After thinking about this post, I wanted to find out for myself...
Here is what I found about 2006 Touring models:
"A new three-phase 50-amp, 650-watt charging system is standard on all touring models. H-D tells us that, according to model, this is an increase of 11 to 32 percent, and that the new system is also more reliable and has increased reserve capacity."
Found it on this website: http://www.americanrider.com/output.cfm?id=1022059
So thats very good to know.....
