My 2011 Limited was the same way. Finding neutral was PITA. Unless I clicked into neutral while still moving it was a 5 or 6 try drama finding it at a stop. I put about 3000 miles on the bike and it got slightly better but it still was unacceptable. I drained the stock oil from the transmission and filled it with Redline V-Twin Transmission Oil with Shockproof. It was like night and day. Whether rolling or sitting at a stop neutral is easy to find. First time every time. Best and cheapest mod I've made to the bike. I recommend before you start replacing shift linkage parts try Redline first.
Thanks for the input. that's my next upgrade. It's a crap shoot getting it into N.
What everyone said except for the Redline. It literally smells everytime you stop the bike. It is just hypoid gesar oil with red coloring added.
Took me three changes back to Amsoil to clear out the red stuff and get rid of the smell.
Your comment on the smell from Redline has merit. I don't notice it all the time but every so often when I stop at a traffic light I'll pick up a slight smell. It's not strong and it doesn't bother me but you're right it is there. I will add that there is no smell in my garage where I keep the bike parked. So for me a least I'm a happy camper.
Someone asked where to buy it. Not sure all the places that carry it but there's a Cyclegear store in my area so that's where I got mine.
redline in the tranny
mobil vtwin in the engine
Dexron ATF in the primary
The oil in the primary only lubes the chain and provides the "wet" for the wet clutch. A thick oil is gummy when cold, making the plates stick. Try the atf it's not gummy and works. Can't believe someone else hasn't posted this yet.

It's been posted in many other threads but now we are wondering if our SE compensators are being ruined because of it...The clutch paks like the ATF but its not thick enough to lube the compensator properly. But then again, now we hear that the compensator is designed wrong and a newer version may be released soon.....I just hope that the money tree in my back yard never dies!!!
I have a 2011 FLHTC and have difficulty finding neutral. I was told it is because of the 6-speed gearbox.
I found that shifting into neutral while rolling to the stop is easier than trying to shift into neutral while stopped.
Also, I find the shoe / boot I am wearing makes a difference. My older larger boots make it almost impossible (too much leverage on the shifter), my new lightweight and physically shorter boots work much better.
WOW! i guess i'm not the only one!! I'll give it more time and miles before i take her into the dealership. Embarresing when i pulled up to my buddies house to show him the new ride and i sat there for 5 minutes tryin to put her in neutral. Finally shut her down and she went right in.
Me: getting off my 2012, motor running, clutch lever depressed with one hand and putting "just enough" pressure with the other hand to find the elusive "N" I'll wait a bit before I start to whine about it.
