They about 1 month later all the extra engine guards are gone...

Lol, that is funny, but not a shred of truth in it. Most of the guys taking crashbars off their bikes have had them for awhile, and are wanting to change it up a little. Always lots of engine guards on ebay, but most have curb rash or other marks from being used.

Sorry to Highjack the thread... Sparky, what size bars are those and who did the work. Being just down south on the parkway a few exits maybe its someone local.

My old ldy is complaining that the crashbars on the back of the bile dig into her leg while riding - do you guys know if there is any workaround besides removing them altogether.

You could try the low profile version:

Yes, but a look down any CA highway shows how few are sold here... AFA this, "February 2008, 11:40 AM, at 25 mph, a 2001 FLHRI northbound (one-way) 5th avenue, lane #1, toyota pickup in lane #2 spots open parking space and pulls to the left to park, pulls just ahead of but somehow doesn't notice motorcycle in lane #1, pins motorcyclist between his truck and another unoccupied Nissan pickup truck. Motorcyclist receives $6 in damage, but other than abrasions and a bruise, is unhurt, due to the (now damaged in a V-shape) crashbar on his motorcycle..."

Bad posting! That should read $6000 in damage! Definitely hats off to the $162.00 crashbar! As much as it detracts from the shape of the bike, I'm keeping it as a footpeg mount...

If your dropping your bike in a slow speed turn, you need more practice and maybe one of those ride perfection videos. On the other hand, forgetting to put the kick stand down...Hmmm....
