ok everyone im a new 2011 RGU owner i have the stock windshield on the bike at this time.I would love to put a lower windshield and a darker one so it would look very nice on the silver.(thats the vision i see)i like a lower one for looks but a fuctional one also.i dont want repeat my issuses that i had with the roadking went with 3 different windshields before i was happy.im 6'0 tall and have the stock seat.i like the look of the HD wind splitter but dont know if it helps or works.what has everyone here with a roadglide has used likes and dislikes.that you
I'm running a WV 14" Light Grey on my RGC. BUT your seat is taller. They do make 15" & 16" If you are going to look through your W/S the dark color wouldn't be a good idea. I look over mine but still sometimes I look through it & light greay ain't that easy to see through. Good Luck
I also have an '11 RGU and put the HD wind splitter on it and the jury is still out. I have only ridden about 20 miles with it and I'm probably not going to leave it on the bike. It's 12" and the stock 16" was in my line of vision (6'2"). I think I am going to try a Clearview 14" and split the difference. I will however ride the with the HD splitter for a few more miles before making my final decision.
I know you said you want to go lower than stock, but just letting you know what I have. I went with a Clearview XL with a vent. Am 6' 1", and it keeps the wind off me, AND my wife, which was a big deciding point in going tall. It takes a bit to get used to looking thru the screen and not over, but we love it.
thank you everone keep them coming..slacker if stock 16 u just looked over and 12 too low 14 might work since im 6'0 12 should be fine i guess but some say that splitter has alot of buffering
bklyn rk: keep in mind that windshields are like boots or oil. Everyone has a favorite, but that doesn't mean it will be yours.
Buffeting can be very subjective and there are many variables besides just rider height.
I changed out the stock shield because I hate looking through one - gotta look over.
For me, the 12" tinted Klock Werks works wonderfully, along with those $30 baffles that clip on the engine guard.
Others will say the baffles are worthless and that shield sucks.
I hear lots of good words about WindVest.
On my Road King I was completely happy with the 17" LRS.
your right about that everyone is diferent i just dont want to go buying 3-4 different shields.i called lrs shields but the tallest is 10in.but i like the look of the wind splitter.
