Having just purchased a new Ultra Limited, I was surprised to find no accessory outlet up front, in/around the fairing. I would like an outlet to power my GPS or MP3 player. This is my first HD and I am not familiar with the locations of the accessory connections or what is the best way to install such an outlet.
Look below the inner fairing on the left side. Should be a cigarette lighter there.
On the front of the radio there should be a 3mm receptacle for your mp3.

Hey, thanks! I found it beneath the handlebar, just to the left of the fork. I hadn't noticed it and the tech that did my walk through apparently didn't know it was there. He told me the only outlet was in the tourpak.
Although it can be used, Harley does not recommend using it as an accessory plug. I used mine for my GPS and wound up blowing the fuse. If that happens you will lose your heated grips as they are on the same circuit.
Been using mine for my Garmin GPS for two years and never blew any fuses. It may depend on what type of charger your using for the GPS. If it's the one that came with the GPS there should not be any issues, if you use a cheapo e-bay type charger it may cause issues. That's been my experience anyway.

Yeah, the manual says not to use it for anything but a cigarette lighter so, I spoke to my dealer. He said that the manual says that for liability reasons, but that he knows MANY people who do and don't have any problems. I've used mine for GPS ever since and have never blown a fuse or had any problems with it.

Have used mine for years with a GPS, never blew the fuse. Ya probably either used an aftermarket junk charger, or had a different issue. Regardless, spare fuses should always be carried on the bike...you can blow a fuse for many different reasons, and always at the worst possible time.
