Converting police saddlebags

I have done it. It is not hard to do, but the hinges are expensive. You will have to strip your bags down and then drill new hardware holes. You will also have to find a way to fill in where the hockeypuck is on the lid or buy new lids.
I would not change from the police style bags myself, I love the police bags. I can open them up at a stoplight if needed with out getting off the bike. They are just easier to access

Just Curious why change. I like the police bags on my RK better than the civilian bags on my Ultra, there are ways to make the police bags look good. The only time there is a problem is if you are running a tour pac then you have to space it up just a little so the lids will clear.

These help the looks of the police bags by getting rid of the hockey puck and are inexpensive.
