RE: ride it.Windshield Question for those who know.
I agree with the baffle and the deflectors. I think the baffle makes more of a differance than the deflectors. I have both on my bike but sometimes take the deflectors off.

Can you post a picture of the fork baffle? I know I don't have a touring bike yet but I'm dreaming of one everytime I get on my bike. I've don't have any intension of putting it on the FXD but it would be nice to know all the tricks when I get ready for the next big purchase.
There is a link to the baffle pic up in Micks post
RE: ride it.Windshield Question for those who know.
The fork baffle is stock equipment on classic and ultra, the one posted is just chrome replacement for the stock black one, alot of buffiting is helmet related, I went thru 4 before finding one, and if your helmet has a visor, that will cause alot, remove it and try it.

Not for the 06 / 07 models.
Only the Road Glide ships with the baffle.
However, the MOCO will sell you a chrome one for a nominal fee. I picked up the stock Road Glide flat black one from service. For my tastes it looks better than the chrome one.

Had not noticed they droped it as standard equipment, then yes buy one but will it even fit? their ad says for 2000 and before.

RE: ride it.Windshield Question for those who know.
I have 07 RG and recently intalled the lower fairing. The lower fairing makes a big difference, especially here in the north east. The instructions for the lower fairing suggest the removal of the wind baffle for ridder comfort. Now I'm thinking of putting them on for even more wind protection. Is anyone running with lower fairing and the wind baffle, any issues?
RE: ride it.Windshield Question for those who know.
First I agree that the lower fairings are the single best way to create an extremely smooth riding environment. I have them on my Street Glide and not only are they functional they are very good looking on the bike. I do also have the chrome wind baffle on my SG and find it is a worthwhile mod as well.
RE: ride it.Windshield Question for those who know.
I just picked up the soft lowers for my Standard (ugly but effective) and was out riding at 39 degrees at 60 mph , the combination of
12" shield , fork baffle , soft lowers and fairing air deflectors really does it for me.
Now I have to get a pair of heated gloves.......
Darn I'm getting old.....

RE: ride it.Windshield Question for those who know.
the shortie windshields look great on the bare sleekness of streetglides , but on the Ultras I like the full tall windshields. I mean you got a set of lower flairings, and bags hung all over the rear end so the shortie windshield just dosn't quite give it the same sport look. And with the tall shield, deflectors, baffels and lowers I don't get any buffeting and I'm 6"1". With your haveing to wear glasses, the set up I got will allow yur regular glasses to be used so you won't have to buy some expensive glasses just for rideing.
Consider, with a tall shield yur looking thru it going down the road, but as you get closer to screenery objects and such they get off to the side so you arn't looking thru the shield at them as their getting closer. I do alot of evening dusk dark rideing, and the biggest hassle I've found with the full shield is you have to clean the shield every tank ful or two at most, whereas with the shortie you don't really have to clean it much at all. But I live in bug heaven here in East Tennessee so you might not have the armies of skeeters and nats getting splatted on the screen like we do so cleaning might not be as often.
