Default Security system FYI....

Well its been three years for me on my 08 GC. This last week I noticed that when I went to start the bike the alarm would cheerp once. Turns out that it is an early warning that the FOB battery has lost enough voltage to not let you start the bike after a couple of more starts. Glad I had used the security system over ride several times so I could get to work. Three years is a good time for FOB battery replacements.....Oh and buy two, one for each FOB.

I just added the radio shack siren mod 2 weeks ago. Now it chips (sad sounding chirp) when i leave the area after parking and when i turn on the ignition to start. I just changed the batt and it still does the same thing. I also put in my new battery upside down. That was embarrassing, it kept going off until i figured it out. but I still haven't set up my override as yet. Guess i better soon before i get stuck.

It seems as if I read that the battery is recommended to be changed annually. I'd say you did well to get three years out of it.

I change mine every other year. so on my 2010 bike it will be changed in April 2012. April because that is when I bought it and the plates expire so renewal time makes it easy to remember to do the fob batteries too! My 2007 bike remote got changed in 09 and just got changed this year too.

I wear a belt and suspenders as I believe in security. I change both of mine annually and carry spare in the trunk for you guys. Set my PIN. Also my garage door opener is the same battery so I have an extra there as well.

You can never be to secure.

last weekend I changed all the oils in my RKC; all three holes. Went to start and only got flashing lights! Not even an attempt to start. Ended up being the battery in the fob. So .... after 4, yes, 4 years, I replaced the batteries in both fobs. Boy am I lucking I was in the garage!
