The tentcot is a pass for me. YMMV
To each their own. Personally I like to sleep comfy (I really like my sleep) and I hate packing up a nasty tent the morning after a storm with all the crap stuck to it. Yes, it's a little weighty, but what I get in trade off is well worth it to me.
To know I have a nice surface to sleep on right next to the bike, without having to inflate/deflate an air mattress was a big selling point to me. It knocks out the tent (shelter) requirement and the comfort requirement. And it is really convenient for me.
Are there better, smaller, lighter, easier, etc., ways? Probably. But for the price and function I'm VERY happy with it.

If the cot part wasn't as tall, it would be lighter and smaller...I think I'll email kamprite (the manufacturer) this afternoon and make a couple suggestions.

It is just over 20 lbs. so I was concerned about the stress of the weight maybe damaging the tour-pak lid somehow. But maybe that's just me being overly cautious.
Next I put it across my passenger seat. (That's a H-D tallboy in the pic) and I bungeed it to the mounting brackets under the tour-pak. This seemed to be better. It still tied down very securely and the weight is lower, so i didn't even notice it was back there when I went for a test ride like that.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for the Pic's there Tito that helps alot. If I go this route then it would be mounted between the solo seat and touring bag so looking at your pic's it should work. Still weighing my options right now.

Hey maybe we'll meet up at Spirits Meet and Greet Thursday night at the rally. Have a safe ride and thanks again.

Worried about twenty lbs? You gotta be sheetin' me! Try a couple hundred with a monowheel - hitting the twisties down to the boards.
In case you are
wondering - the second tent is for gear so we have a lot of room in the "bedroom" - still haven't figured
out how to hang the trapeze though.
