SE adjustables on all of my builds. Unless you are putting out over 200 hp and running 8000 rpm no need for anything else they are reasonably priced and work great. I hear the tapered are on backorder. SUPRIZE!
Have an 07 Ultra also.
I went with the SE tapered adjustables and have had no problems at all with them and quite happy with them. They come complete with covers and O rings. I,ve had them in there for the last two cam changes over the past year.
I won a set of SE tapered adjustable pushrods off ebay from St. Paul Harley Davidson. Guess what? They ran out of stock when I won the auction. How convenient! Why sell something when you do not have it to sell? OK. I got that off my chest. Now. For the wait. Dammit.
Don't know about the 2007 models, but on my 2010 the fuel tank is the easiest part on the entire bike to remove. Absolutely no reason to spend extra $$$ on adjustable pushrods.
Have a brand new set of SE adjustables I will probably end up selling. Bought everything then put the project on hold. Now that I am ready to get it back on schedule I am planning on pulling the tank and using the stock pushrods. Planning on stock since I am pulling the tank on my 08 for other reasons so might as well come in from the top.
I think either way is going to work a-ok if a guy takes his time to do it right, might come down to your individual comfort level with the job. Would you rather deal with adjusting the rockers back and getting them torqued in tight spot or making sure you get the adjustables set and locked in correct? Just my $0.02 after reading not doing this for a long time.
