Default Need a push in the right direction!

Hey all, I feel like I'm back to square one again.... I did a build on my 09' Ultra last year, 103" BB(stayed close to stock comp), SE flat tops, Woods TW-7h, PCV w/autotune, ets, etc....

I was very happy with how it turned out but I ended up selling it on a whim, of course the $$ was right! This year I bought another Ultra, an 07', so here I go again!

It's going in for mods next week, TW-555's, pcv, pushrods, etc, etc.. Already has stage 1. I'm pondering another BB, but this time i want to go bigger. I'm thinking maybe 107" with forged pistons and higher compression in the 10:5:1 range.

My thinking is while I have it apart it would only be additional for the boring, pistons, rings, and labor. Ideally I would like to get the heads done at the same time, but I'm kinda leaning more towards the BB only. I asked "someone" about headwork last year and was advised it would only benefit in the high RPM's.......

It will benefit "most" in the high RPMs, but you will feel it some throughout the whole range. For a touring bike your best value is a good street port job, usually can be had for $3-500. Bigboyz gets $300 for theirs, not sure what Fuel Moto gets for theirs. Get some advice from the people that you're going to have do the build or put the parts together so they match well, FM has a good 107 kit that makes some excellent #s & they have the dyno results to back it up.

Since you mentioned the Woods 555 cams, I would suggest the Fuel Moto 107 kit as it uses those exact cams.

Check their website out, they now offer porting on the heads as well.

I'd give Steve at GMR Performance a call or check his site, several options. I'm running his 107 kit and couldn't be happier

I'm thinking I'll go with a 107" high compression build, everyone seems to be happy with the fuelmoto package.

Well the scoot is in the shop getting the mods done. I'm adding the PCV, tw555's, pushrods, all from fuelmoto. After a conversation with my indy we settled on the S&S 106" to compliment the earlier mentioned. I wanted to do the entire FM package but I also wanted to give my indy a piece of the action, pretty hard for me to show up at his shop with just boxes of parts to install..... He highly recommended the S&S cylinders, thicker than the stock bored ones and forged pistons as well.

On the flip side I'm thinking of getting my heads street ported at BIGBOYZ or FM but I want to see the results from the build first. I'm hoping for a little over 100hp with this setup and will send the heads later.

While you're at it, I'd pull it all the way down and get the crank plugged, trued and welded and put better bearings in the bottom end.

we did chat about the crank, thinks mine will be fine as I don't drive hard - as per his standards anyhow!! He has a guy with a RG that had a BB and headwork also with a turbo - had to be removed after 3 cranks, welded and trued...

I'm mostly a 2-up rider, just like the power at my fingertips when I like it! No burnouts or wheelies here!
