Default Pro Pipe Chrome Install

I received my new Prop Pipe Chrome today. I was reading through the instructions and it seems simple enough. Any "gotchas" out there before I begin the install?

I've read that sometimes it's easier to install the heat shields last instead of before mounting the headers?

Just thought I'd check before I begin to tackle the job.

Thanks!

Regards,
JB

Check those header bolts nuts after a couple hundred miles, they'll probably need snugged up again.

Just make sure you don't push the muffler in too far into the collector otherwise the back of the muffler heatshield will put some nice scratches and gouges in the chrome body of the muffler where it expands.
Make sure your heat shield does not rest on the muffler by leaving somewhat of a little gap at the back but make sure you push that shield all the way up to the weld on the collector "Y" shield.
It takes some experimenting but do so before you tighten everything up.
As me how I know this!

Oh yeah, don't get freaked out after you run the machine for a while and get off and notice that you have some gaps where the shields butt together......heat expands everything and leaves some bigger gaps.......but the gaps will close back up when it cools down for a few minutes and look just like you installed it.

The pipes fit and sound great, but man.........ARE THEY LOUD (especially after riding 6-8 hours)!!!

Thanks for the feedback! That gap you speak for the muffler heat shield must be the 1/16th they refer to in the instructions. I'll keep a watchful eye on that when I install. I have to pick up some anti-seize from a local auto store so I can add the O2 sensors. That, and I"m still wrestling with the support bracket near the starter that isn't needed anymore. My 3/8 inch drive sockets w/ allen head is too big and is forcing the entry of the bit to be angled and I can't get a good grip on the bolt. I almost stripped on of them tonight. I'm going to try the 1/4 inch drive size instead, hoping it will be just what I need. Else, that bracket will just stay there.

Regards,
JB
