Glad both of your are able to ride again. What was her excuse........didn't see you!!!! Been wearing a full face hellmet for the past three years. Thought about going to a 3/4 but changed my mind. Ordered a new full face. Here's to a speedy recovery for you and the Mrs.
Heal up quick and well, you and your wife. A few thoughts:
An SG, so no light bar? I rode my buddy's Sportster one time about 10 miles and had 2 people pull in front of me. Both bikes I've ever owned had bars lit ALL the time. I've never had any one pull in front of me in my 5 years of riding. Of course I don't mean it will never happen either.
I've gone from a full helmet to a 3/4 to a half over the years. Maybe I should re-think that.
The first upgrade I did on the SG was to order it with aux lights, cruise control, and ABS... 02 RKC, has the aux lights won't have another bike without them.
Before I start complaining... let me say pain is good, and thank goodness for helmets!!!
I'm a believer too after a skirmish with a dog in Oct. '09. Here's what my helmet looked like after the mishap, and I ask you to ponder what shape my head would be in had I not been wearing it. Even with the helmet I was knocked-out for a few seconds and I remember nothing between the time I struck the dog and picked myself up after the accident. I won't get on a MC again without a 3/4 helmet or better on my head.
I'm so glad the two of you were able to walk away from this accident! I had a similar crash about 10 years ago-some guy pulled out of a gas station into my lane nearly head-on. Luckily I slowed down to 15mph in a 45 because a truck parked on my right was blocking my view of the station exit/entrance. I hit his front end and rolled off his hood to the pavement-with only bruises and a scraped helmet.
Man....all that at 25 mph. Unreal. So sorry yet so glad your able to sit there and write us about it. Best to you and your wife. Time heals most wounds. Insurance heals bikes. Best to you both.
Good to hear your both going to be alright.
+ on the lawyer.
Seems every ride there is someone careless either not paying attention and pulling out in front of you or just plain dangerous.
Our job is to stay alive and find them before they find you.
I have a new full face that I have been hesitant to use, well the heck with it I'm going to start using it.
Doesn't hurt to wake some of us up on the safety of helmet use.
Heal fast, ride careful.
