Default 99 Road King ?

a friend of mine has a 99 road king, how do you get the trim piece that covers the handlebar clamp off? Looks like this is hooked to the steering lock somehow. And the little narrow trim piece on the very top of headlight housing off? He is going to take the whole front end off. terry

The cap over the handlebar clamp if like later models requires you to pry off the ring that says "Lock/Unlock" then there are screws underneath. The headlight nacelle trim strip is pretty clear to see after you take the headlight off as mentioned.

Not to be a schmuck, but if he is taking the front end off shouldn't he get a manual? Just a suggestion.
