Well, for every job that is done by an owner and not an employee is lost revenue for the service department. Less revenue will equal lower wages or fewer hours. The whole point of having an employee is to make the business money. I just cant imagine a shop spending the amount of money they do for a service dept and then allow it to be opened up for free. As for the win-win, that's a win-loose for the dealer, made money on parts and lost money on the install.

He looks at it as he could lay people off because the shop isn't busy. And there is no point in paying people to stand around.

Or he could invite the public in to work with the mechanics and learn how to do the jobs and make the money off the parts and gaskets.

They serve lunch and get a good reputation from there customers.

My guess is you work for Harley.

Your a good guesser. Your dealers practices seem a little counter productive for making money but I guess it's his money. We are getting off track for this thread though. As far as the 120R being a suitable touring motor, I put over 10k on mine this year and loved every mile. Only complaint I have is with the clutch pull and getting caught in traffic. Kinda wears your hand out in a hurry.

Red is www.lshd1.com

19220-12 120R crate motor $5,695.95 $4879.58
27713-08 High Flow 58MM EFI Throttle Body $429.95 $353.96
27796-08 HIGH FLOW INJECTOR KIT $139.95 $111.96
37951-98 CLUTCH DIAPHRAGM SPRING $29.95 $23.96
37976--08A KIT-CLUTCH RACE $249.95 $199.96
37980-10 PERFORMANCE CLUTCH PLATES $169.95 $135.96

Total $xxxx.xx $5705.38

Note: There will more than likely be an additional shipping charge for the motor, and the part number plieski gave is showing the motor is a “120R”…”A model”, so you would want to verify they’re sending the Touring engine.

Damn, I just might do this. Of course a couple hours on the Dyno at Speeds Peformance Plus would be required, and I'd lose a few horses because I like my pipes.

Scared to death of that damn crank with these kind of power levels, though.

"commerical" address isn't going to work for me......If I decide to do it....I'll be doing all the work in my garage.

You won't be able to wipe the **** eatin grin off your face for a month after putting in that 120. Going big was the best/funnest decision I've made in a while. Well worth it.
