Clutch Cable Adjusting
Got my grand daughter over (she's 4 1/2, that OK?) She says you did not hook the the cable end into the ramp lever properly. She assumes you do not have some off brand junk cable that is in-properly made. She says even if it was too long it would still work. You just could not pull it up neat to the front of the bike.
Heck, a forty foot cable will work. You just have to figure out where to stash it on the front of your bike.
It doesn't make any difference how long the cable is other than looking like crap. You need to go back to the begining & start over again. Without any pics it's tuff to tell you anything. Is it a good quality cable? Let us know what you did to get it working. Good luck
Measure the difference between the intercable and the housing.
It should be close to the same on both cables. If there is a couple of inches difference you have the wrong cable for your bike.

HEY...thanks everyone for your replies and trying to help...I have THE answer now!!
Yep several of you guys were right about going back to the tranny. I loosened the exhaust pipes and got the tranny cover bolts out (again), everything looked okay, the ramp and the 3 ***** were seated properly etc. I knew I must had forgot something small, so I went back to the service manual and found a minor detail that made ALL the difference! I'm sharing this in case anyone else doesn't have a 4 1/2 year old kid to help out (see post by grf000) or you tend to read too fast in your service manual (my problem). The snap ring position is critical; maybe I'm the last guy on the planet to know this but HEY! if you are looking inside the tranny cover with the top toward you, the right end of the snap ring on top of the outer ramp MUST be to the right of the wider slot opening (the right side one of the two slots toward the upper left of the ramp. This wider opening must clear and between the two ends of the snap ring. I put it all back to together...works great...live and learn! ...now where did that 4 1/2 year old kid run off to? Gotta go...and thanks again!
