I bought into the cross talk fears so I welded in a piece of pipe to spread them. Not sure why I did, the bungs are an inch apart, and before the cat. Bike runs cooler and sound does increase. Cut-Gut-Tig- it's that simple.
you did what Doc said needed to be done. You were smart.
I have some 09 head pipes and I plan to plug the 18mm bungs and weld in new 12 mm bungs near the place they are in the 2011. Would it be a good idea to move the 12 mm bungs further up the head pipes to eliminate any possibility of problems?
There are no reasonably priced 12mm wide-band 02 sensors hence the problem. All the closed loop tuning systems need a wide band. Haven't tried this yet, but it may be the solution. It's a 18mm to 12mm adapter.
Not liking the fact that the tip of the sensor is out of the exhaust stream, but for those who don't have dual bungs, or want to weld in 18mm bungs, it might be worth a try.

Good idea, but i dont believe there is enough room for the adapters and the larger sensors.
Took it to Harley - the guy that did my exhaust put the O2's in backwards - i.e. the black one up front, the white in back.
Took it to my exhaust guy and he fixed it - RUNS LIKE A CHAMP!!! I'm so F'n relieved, I can't even tell you, haha.
No more surging, no more over-rich running. The bike threw 8 codes - most were O2 related. So far as I can tell, I'm not getting any negative effects from cross talk, but I'll keep you all apprised.

We are indeed, a well-intentioned group, and man up to our, "let's-solve-this-problem" reputation!
My head was spinning with each reply in this thread; all very sound theories!
I guess the lesson to be learned here is ALWAYS include what the dealer did in the problem solving process. Them guys are flesh and blood.....just like us!
I gotta say, I love how so many pitched in to help out!!
