Do passenger handles interfere with saddlebag lid guards?

Do passenger handles interfere with saddlebag lid guards?
I bought a used 03 FLHTCUI. The previous owner took off the passenger handle and I was going to put it back on. When I visualize how it would sit, I realize why he took it off. He added saddlebag lid chrome guards and they probably won't clear the handles for opening and shutting. Is that right? I like the look of the guards so I probably will leave it as is. I bought this bike so my wife could ride 2 up. How useful are the passenger handles? Any problem with passenger holding on to lid guards for support? Thanks for helping the newbie.

I have the passenger hand grips on my 02 Ultra Classic and my wife doesn't ride. I have opened my saddle bags many times and had no problems. The only time it gets dicey is when you are on kick stand. The lean causes the left side to be kinda close but it comes of fine. If my wife rode with me, I would make sure the hand grips were there. You never know.

Instead of asking us, ask your wife if she would rather hang on to passenger grab rails, or look at saddlebag bling. 
My bike came with the useless strap across the seat. Yesterday I installed the passenger rails - today the wife was happier.

thanks to the feds, you need a strap or handle if there are rear pegs
HD cheaped out again by removing the nice chrome passenger handle
I added one to my bike, that also has the chrome rails on top of the bags.
I've never noticed an issue with the bag lids hitting

Look at the picture of my bike I have the grab rails on. I like the way they look. Have to make sure you get the chrome covers. : )
