Tonight while I was riding on my 2006 RK Custom (injected) I noticed that my throttle had a lot of play. as I rode longer, I realized there is like an inch of play in the throttle. I actually have to reset my hand because I have to twist it so far.
It idles fine, accelerates fine, just about an inch of turn before it accelerates.
I also noticed that the right blinker switrch works but does not auto return to the off position. its like it is hitting something.
Question. is this something I adjust at the bars? do I need to remove the housing? or do I do it at the throttle body?
if this is new, you may have a cable about to snap- look at it now while you are home and not on the road trying to figure out how to crack open throttle with shoe-lace
be aware that when removing the right switch assembly, the lever operated brake switch needs to have a shim put up against it, or it will break, compounding your problems.
If your cable is not damaged you'll need a manual to find out how to adjust them You should have 2, one throttle & one return. it's important to follow the direction in the manual. You might check the "SEARCH" on this site.
most common area for cables to break is at the lead ***** on the ends look for broken strands, could be that the wrench that just did the chrome controls didnt get it adjusted right.
I think the best thing to do is to remove the air filter cover so you can see where cables go into the throttle body acuators.Twist the throttle and see whats going on.
An inch play sure is excessive and I dont think it an adjustment.
Also remove the throttle assy. at the handle bar and check the cable *****.
I had the throttle cable break on my '06 Road glide at 25000 miles. It broke at the ball on the throttle. There was no excessive play before it broke.

If you just have switch housing installed seems like technician didn't properly adjust em you can slide the rubber boots from both cables and adjust your self to your liking or take it back to the shop.Keep in mind you need to leave some slack and fire up the bike and turn handle bars left to right while motor running to see if idling stays the same.
When I bought my 07 Road King with about 7900 miles, the throttle felt like it had too much slack. Upon closer examination with the air cleaner removed, the throttle butterfly was only opening 3/4 of the way max. Both adjusters were fully collasped as if the cables had never been adjusted. I guess some tech hadn't done his job.
Thanks for all you help. It was an adjust ment and everything seems okay now. During the research portion i found where the cable is run along the neck of the frame... there was a little rubber boot and it looked like two cables met there with some housing... anyway, if i pulled them apart the throttle would not snap back and had no play... if i pushed them closer together there was play but the throttle snapped back.. still haver an issue with the right turn signal button sticking too...
