Road trip

This might not be the place for this, but I'll ask here anyway.
I'm planning a trip from central VA. to Erie PA. on the 20th of this month(5/20/2011). I have been on several road trips but never rode up north and I'm wondering about anything I should be aware of like, noise laws, kinds of drivers, things like that. Also, any good places to stop and refresh, sights, things of that nature.
