I guess there has to be one jerk in the crowd and today is my day! Now don't get me wrong, I like the bike but there's some nit-picky things I would have liked to have not had to deal with and on a $22,000.00 motorcycle, I think I bought the right to be a little nit-picky. First there's the broken tour pack latch at 300 miles. Then there's the crooked tail light assembly. And lastly, the tour pack liner could've been put in a little more professionally. I won't discuss engine noise because that's going to be rectified with a little engine modification by me. The dealer will be made aware of these other problems.
A picture's worth a thousand words, so here you go:
With the overwhelming positive responses, perhaps the moco shouldn't come out with an '08...just keep the '07s out for a couple of years. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Ride safe,
I wasn't happy shortly after I got it...it pinged alot if I laid into it. Since I added a air cleaner, pipes and a powercommander it rocks ! Love it.
'07 FLHTC
I have read several tourpac latches breaking, older yrs would too if adjusted to tight or lid under tension due to over stuffed container. They will replace those under warranty of course. The biggest compaint about the 07 touring line w/some of us early owners has been the way the MOCO has treated us.Once they have you chasing your tail, youre done. They have done something to quiet the newer releases up as it seems so far,but have done nothing for those of us that have already bought one.Was it labr related?build spec related?Vendor parts?or a combo of all?The defective case that was found by Latus HD has been silent.
I have an 07 Ultra that I have had for a little over a month. So far I have 4400 kms on it and the only corrective action the dealer has had to take is aligning the head light. Engine is happiest between 2500 and 3000 RPM, it does lug if you go much lower and ask it to get up and go. I wish we hadn't had 36 straight days with rain but I guess I can't blame HD for that, or can I. I'll have to check the warranty regarding weather conditions. So far I have only had cool, wet weather so I can't comment too much on heat but it does seem to be a tad warm at the rear cylinder exhaust pipe, could be a pain in warm weather.
I really haven't had a chance to ride mine in a warmer climate so I cannot comment on the engine heat. I will say that I rode a parade on Vets Day and did not have any heat issues. Temps were in the 50's, very slight to no breeze, and it was stop and go at a walking pace for about two miles. Didn.t notice any heat at all.
