i have a 8 inch klockworks iam 5"8 and i got no issues with buffeting and i have neck to. just got back from texas going on the hiways the speed limit is 80 mph me and the wife was going anywhere between 80 to 105 no problems what so ever plus i have those silly little baffles that mount to the engine guard and it all works great and i where a 1/2 helmut. i do get some wind but not enough that i cant breath.
No buffeting problem with my 2011 RG Custom. But I run it with a 12" WindVest shield, a $30 HD Wind deflector set, and $25 HD Fron Fork Air Baffle. Perfect for me at 6ft with 34" inseam. When the next cold season hits, I'll be adding soft lowers.
Yes, the stock WS sucks. do a search & you can get some great info on WS. I'm
6' tall & 32" inseam, stock seat & run a Wind Vest 14" & have no problems. HD also has some wind deflectors that mount to the top of crash bar. So,you don't get any wind on a Fat Boy!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck
It is functional it was designed to look cool when riding and not for serious high speed highway driving
Good for a bar hopper bagger. If I could afford a 2nd HD, I'd get another RGC in denim black with a 120r engine and an 8" Klock Werkz black wind shield, which is only 2" taller than the factory black shield.
to the OP check out mythread in the search box titled I HATE MY RGC anywya it is a terrible design just **** no wind tunnel testing etc not trying to tell you what to do ,but a road king will give you the best of both worlds trust me i know been there done that even caled harley themselves and they had no answer as to why they would sell a 20,000 bike you cant ride over 50mph without mounting a screen door on it lmao anyway the only way to truly fix it would be to cut the steel mount and readjust the angle so that it will split the wind higher

I ride my fugly on the highways almost every day of the week and do well over 50 mph and have zero issues as the above poster says. I run a Klock Werks 8" and a set of HD lower wind deflectors mounted to the tank. Maybe you just have a huge head or something. My buddy on his king has trouble riding next to any big rig on the freeway, and I feel very little of this buffeting everyone talks about. But to each his own...

Reason: forgot quotes
My buddy put a taller shield, lowers and the engine guard baffles on his 10 RG Custom and its now a great tourer, he has 18k miles on it in the 13 months he's owned it. I would own that over any Fatboy. I see plenty of RGs on the open road, no where near as many FLSTFs
I tried that little shortie wind deflector on mine and it sucked. Went with the Clearview GT Small and haven't had a problem at freeway speeds (75+). Looking cool isn't nearly as fun as it looks.
