I had a guy on the HD Forums make a statement I gotta quote. "Black isn't a color, it's a commitment"! No truer words have been spoken. Nothing sexier than black & chrome but it is a PITA!
Amen brother, but I never really considered any other color, had to be black, as for swirls clay bar a good polish and wax hard work but damn it looks good
That's interesting because my last bike was vivid black and when I bought some paint to shoot a bunch of aftermarket parts, the colors used and ratio were on the label and I know for sure red was in the mix and a couple other colors I cant remember.
When I brought my E-Bay hard bags in to get shot, I told the painter to make sure he matched it to HD Black. He laughed at me and said it's just BLACK.
They match perfect.

He was right but black isn't always black. Blue and brown are commonly mixed in. For example Ford uses straight black and Honda adds a lot of blue.
Just went out and bought a can of Pledge...wow, what a great way to make the Vivid Black on my '05 EGC really more...vivid! Pledge'd the whole bike...removed smudges, bugs, shined the chrome. Yeah...that shiny black, she runs faster now.
