I love the black bikes. I don't think you can get as good as a contrast with the chrome and paint with any other color. I will say it does become a bit of a pain if you are that **** about keeping it clean. I for one am a clean freak when it comes to my bike but also keep it under control and ride the hell out of my street glide. The biggest help for me with dealing with the black bike is the 10ft rule. If i can't see swirls or water spots from 10ft away its good to go, but if you are such a perfectionist and look at it from 6inches away you won't make it out alive.
Whatever color you have we all know that the bikes we have are our pride and joys. Ride it clean or ride it dirty, either way ride safe, but ride hard.
Love black! Have a black truck and car as well. I keep it clean and Pledge it after just about every ride. At night when the wife is watching TV or on dirty days I go up to the garage and give it a rub-down. I don't look at spraying and cleaning it as a chore. More like foreplay.
yup yup! thats the same way i feel.
i also have been using that butter smooth detailer from amour all....WOW way easyier than pledge and makes the shield crystal clear.
Can we quit calling it "vivid"?.........please?
It's not vivid, it's just shiney black, period. I just had our painter shoot my inner fairing & de-riveted front fender. When I handed him the parts I asked him if I needed to call PPG and get the paint code, he said, "no, I think Harley black is straight black". Well me, being **** like I am, called PPG and guess what the mix is? Black base! No brown, no blue, nada, just black!!!
Vivid? really? How?
Now, I've had plenty of other colors but, from now on it's only black for me. Nothing looks as good and I never tire of it. Plus, someone else said something about resale and I'd have to agree, very few don't like black.
Now that you guys've mentioned it...now I know the reason why my 06 Ultra is faster.Because of her color :BLACK!Since I started using Glare products she just looks awesome! Also love that contrast between the black paint and all the chrome.
I had a guy on the HD Forums make a statement I gotta quote. "Black isn't a color, it's a commitment"! No truer words have been spoken. Nothing sexier than black & chrome but it is a PITA!
there's no way to describe the feeling like when i'm polishing my vivid black streetglide and in the reflection, seeing an ant climbing up a blade of grass on the ground behind me.
