They look great but in my opinion they are not funtional. I get a better view of my hands rather than the traffic behind me. I just can't find that sweet spot.
I love them, my buddy has an 04 classic, he rode my bike and is going to change to the faring mounted mirrors. Here are a couple of pics I took for him when I had the faring off.
Have them on my 06 SG -- no visability problems at all. There is a little more vibration at certain rpms than with bar mounted mirrors, but I don't find it to be intrusive.
Had them on my 97 and had them put on my 05 before I picked it up. My suggestion is if you do it yourself, move them up and out a bit from the template HD gives you. About a half inch up and out is all needed. Gives you a better adjustability IMO.
I have always liked the look of the fairing mouted mirrors so I put them on and I really do like the visibility. It could be a little bit better but I can see plenty. Just a tip if you do it yourself, HEED THE WARNING in the intructions and do not overtighten. I think I posted this in another thread but I cranked too hard on one and broke the nut. It's hanging on with duct tape and superglue...I figure I'll buy a new set when it finally falls off!
Same happened to me... Overtightened one and busted the threaded part. Thankfully there was enough sticking thru the fairing that by taking off the rubber washer I could tighten down the nut..
I wanted to go to them when I painted my inner fairing ( I have the Ness ones then/now). I have the chubby bars and the wider/higher bars looked like it would have been impossible to see. So I went back to the Ness ones that are purely there for looks, I can't see squat out of them!
BTW, D175, your pic looks like you have the Chubby's on there. That position doesn't put your hands right in front of the mirrors?

PS, my mirrors before my new paint scheme this past summer.
some where on this site is a thread about recalled fairing mirrors, If you only see your hands then you need a replacement for your mirrors.
I have them and they are great. had them on my 03 Standard and now on my 05 Ultra
good luck
