If you want an alarm system have you considered an after-market one? Will probably be simpler to install. I have a Datatool S4 on my 1990 Glide and am happy with it - comes with immobiliser and two remotes. I don't know if it is available in the USA.
Very simple swap. Do not spend the labor to have the dealer do it. You will need to swap out the tsm for a tssm...takes about 10 minutes. There is a procedure in the DIY forum for marrying the tssm to your bike. Not sure what year they went to a button less FOB, but that will have to be programed at a dealer. That take a few minutes and they should not charge more $20
