[QUOTE=Harleyboyddk;8420819]Both JIMS and ZIPPERS claim the service life on HD lifters is 20,000 miles.
Thats like saying im bringing my car in for a 20000 mile service. Lube, oil, filter, and lifters.
The crap people say to sell stuff. The lifters that are in hd's are the same Hydraulic roller
design as automotive lifters that last hundreds of thousands of miles.
I agree with the previous posts that say there is no need for new lifters. I did upgrade/change to better quality bearings as suggested by a couple of the guys on the forum who's opinions I value and trust.
I got a call from the service manager at my local HD... I have had it in the shop a few weeks ago for vibration that was not normal. They put on a new compensating sprocket. Said they are having problems with them in 2009-2010 touring bikes. I got it back and it's riding better but not right. Today he says they hear noise coming from the lifters. (2010 FLHTC) they are replacing them with an UPGRADED lifter. Said they, MOCO were having problems with them too.. The new up-graded lifters have just come out recently. 21,000 miles on the bike. Anyone heard of this? Or more smoke up my tail pipe.
