You can get a cheaper priced one right from NAPA, but HD's pn# is 72023-51D. Let me guess, yours melted and crapped out? Been a major problem on the 09's. It's not the switch itself, it's how they have the exhaust, etc. setup.

Here's a cross reference for the brake switch

Advance Auto-GP Sorenson #37-5036
NAPA-Echlin #SL147
Auto Zone-Niehoff #WA627C

yep. this is an old thread... but, my 2012 FLSTC has had issues with the brake light. The front master cylinder was rebuilt and all good... but only for a short time. Now getting code that rear brake switch is shorted out. I have disconnected one of the wires on the switch so that the brake light will function properly with the front brake.

My question: Are there any suggestions for protecting a replacement rear brake switch from exhaust heat?

Many Thanks!

Took my 2011 in for tires last April and the dealer flushed the rear brake system and changed the rear brake switch as part of the recall.

Thanks! I'll check with stealership I bought the bike from to see if they will honor the recall.
