Is anyone running the cat-free headpipe on their Ultra Limited and if so, do you notice any difference in power and whether the bike runs cooler overall. Maybe mention what type of slip-ons you've got as well. Thank you much. I have an 11 FLHTK with Supertrapp SE's and am considering switching head pipes.
I gutted the CAT out of my 2011 FLHTK. I cant tell any performance gains but it is a lot cooler. I'm running stock mufflers that sound really good now the CAT is gone. I wouldn't waste my money on an aftermarket head pipe unless you intend to do other mods.
V&H VO2 intake, fuelpak, V&H power duals, and SE street performance mufflers. Slightly louder, only slightly, and MUCH cooler. I did it at the 1K service so not real sure how the performance or mpg was affected. Lets just say that in 6th at 2K RPM I can accelerate nicely.
Installed Jackpot 2:1:2 on 2010 Road King. The bike definitely feels cooler. The stock mufflers become a bit louder and the sound is great at idle and low speeds, but they're pipey sounding when hard on the gas.
I just came back from a 750 mi. day. At a steady 75 mph for hours the now louder stock mufflers we're annoying (to my ears). I'm replacing them with Supertrapp SE's and hoping for improved touring.
My main goal on my 2010 FLHTK was to cool the motor, it had enough power, just way too hot. So, I cut and gutted out the cat, installed a V&H Fuelpak, Fuelmoto Jackpot mufflers, SE A/C. Runs a lot cooler, sounds good, without spending a lot.

On my '10 Ultra LTD I put the Rush ceramic coated head pipes and V&H monster ovals. I would have put the Rush Big Louies on if they were out when I did this. I also have SERT and stage 1 air. Runs A LOT cooler. Did not notice much power difference since I am not a jock rider. Oh yea, I kept my cat pipes in case the peoples republic of NY decides to go with the california emissions law. Just in case.
