Default 1000 mile ride from Indianapolis

Me and a few friends are looking to do an Iron Butt ride from Indianoplis Indiana. 1000 miles in 24 hours. Anyone ever done this from this area? Looking for some good rout suggestions and maybe ways to keep it off the expressways for parts of the trip.

Take 135 thru Nashville and Bloomington then shoot over to Bedford and Green County... Some very nice views and roads down that way

Easy to plan routes and get mileage using Google Maps.

You'll be surprised how much of a factor not riding the expressways can be. On my 1000 mile ride, the route was 3/4 highway at speeds of 75 mph and 1/4 secondary roads with max speeds of 40-55 mph. When it was all said and done, my average speed was 52 mph over the entire trip. If you want certification for the ride, don't forget to document the whole thing. Enjoy it.

We were gonna do an Iron Butt from just north of Ft. Wayne thru Indy to St. Louis then north to Chicago and then back to home. All Highway and was gonna be just over 1000 miles. You could look at that route just change your start and end location to Indy. Bryan

My brother & I just did ours earlier this month. Houston to W Texas & back. One thing we did get lucky on was having the sun at our back the whole time, helped with fatigue. It was pure dumb luck but I'm glad we went west in the am and east in the pm....can't imagine riding into the sun for hours in the morning and then again in the afternoon.

Go to the Hog website. Use the ride planner. Adjust to the roads you like. Download the trip and upload it to your gps. Enjoy your trip.

We took some scenic routes on ours and it does make it more fun. It does eat up your time though so becareful not to get to scenic. It's not the roads but all the towns you go into.
I also recommend the last stretch to be some good easy roads.
