Its hard to beat the Elf for sure especially with the price factored in. I recall seeing that now that you mention it.
I have the Elf in my Street Glide - I also have HERTZ HCX 6.5" Hi - Energy speakers. I popped by the J & M tent in Laconia Thursday & John & I did a comparison with his test CD of music, his against my little less than half the cost set-up - after , I got stopped by a few guys & gals that were there and they were like " What the hell u got in there " nuff said ,,,..LOL..I can hear it at 90 on the highway - I get the best sound out of my GPS (ZUMO 550) with a memory card with my mp3s.
Just to be clear - Not slamming John or his product, not my style.. It was nice to meet him & have a little fun. I like what I have and the price was right for me.
The elf/arc amps fit very well in the fairing. I had the arc in and traded it out for a massive audio nx2 because by the specs it is double the power. I got it in and it sounds very good with the Treo components i also put in, but i'm really not sure if it was worth the amount of work it took. The massive amp is spec-wise the same size as the vibe and i had to do a lot of trimming to make it fit.
The arc I originally used is now in my buddy's bike running a pair of the hogtunes 5 1/4's. He also has the TP, but it is running off of deck power. The amp is only pushing the HT speakers. It sounds pretty good and will definitely get loud, but I have the high pass on set to about 65 or so to block out the really low bass. He seems to be happy with it.
Those look good and are even marine-grade speakers. How did you mount them (adapters) and what amp are you using? Their 2.7Ω impedance would put me at around 1.85Ω with the Tweeter Pods, which is a bit better than 1.5Ω I have with the Hogtunes speakers.
Throttle up ind. Speaker adapters and I montes the tweeters in the top gauge holes. I moved the fuel gauge down to the bottom hole. I can post pics later

Can you hear the TP's well enough running on the head-unit power? How's the sound with this arrangement, as that's exactly the setup I'll have once my amp arrives.

It sounds pretty good. It will definitely get loud and you can definitely tell the difference without the TP.
Just found a decent deal on the ARC Audio MPAK 4 kit, going to give that a shot. Probably not the best setup out there to be sure but fits my budget right now, and when I want to upgrade to a full on setup i can sell this one off to my cousin for his bike hahaha.
Tough to expect big booming sound from such small speakers and such a small enclosure. But if I can hear my Four Horsemen cd over the about-to-be installed Pro Pipe then good enough for this season
