Engine: put in 3.25 quarts with a filter change to start with. Run the motor for 30 seconds then let it sit a few min and check it. Add any if necessary. It'll probably take about 3.5 quarts. If you have an oil cooler closer to 4 quarts
check on the 09 again, heard there was a change on the primary and now it's 38 oz's
My 08 FLHTC repair manual calls for 38 oz in the primary. Even when I went to the dealership to buy the oils and o-rings the service guy told me only a quart is needed and is what they always use. I told him what the manual said and his response was they hadn't seen that. hummmm??????
I use as close to 38 oz as I can but make sure you can see the oil touching the inner primary parts.
