Top speed ??
I had the cruise control set at 90 today on my 2011 RKC all stock,...motor was just purring and felt like there was plenty more! (I think I will be cross checking with a GPS soon though and if it's off, I will recalibrate when I get my Power Vision
After I got the engine broke in, I wanted to see how fast the bike would go, and I was able to peg the speedo (120). Garmin said I only got to 116, but it was not that hard to do. I'd try for faster but I'm afraid it would break the speedo. (Bike is bone stock)

'08 SG Stage 1, Bub 7 True Duals & SERT, nothing major...
I had to pass 2 trucks on a two lane - clicked it down a gear and then ran it hard through the gears to get by the trucks. I looked down and the speedo indicated 100 (likely 95 true speed). I couldn't believe it got going so fast. I held it there just briefly - there was more - Rock solid - I could'a cruised all day like that.
My previous bike, '05 RK, 95 inch, cams & SERT I had up to 95 indicated speed for a minute or 3 but it seemed to take longer to get there.

Now the question/problem....
I was out riding the other day and had an urge to really open it up and see what happened. I get to about 75 in 5th, shift to 6th, climb fairly rapidly to 85 and it very slowly climbs to 89 or 90 and I can't get it to go any faster??? This leads to several trials at attempting to get it over 90 and the only time I did was when I was going down hill and then it only got up to 92. As a matter of fact, at full throttle, it actually slowed down until I let off the throttle a little.
Here's my set up. 96" stage 2 (SE 255 cam) SE tuner.
I really just want to know if this is normal. I never attempted to take it over 90 stock or just as a stage 1.

The problem is you are shifting WAY to early...Run 4th gear to about 95 hit 5th and just let it tach out...6th gear is usless...you are shifting in the middle of your power band..running these motors up to 5k rpms will not hurt them at all..twin cams are not low rpm/torque motors like the rice burners
My cruise only works between 35 and 85 mph.

THAT'S what I was hoping to hear. I don't have a tach (RKC) so I was worried about running it to hard but I've felt like it was just getting too much fuel. As a sort of "test", last night I hooked up the tuner and put it in record mode, then ran it as hard and fast as I could but still shifted like I normally do. The "smart tune" made NO changes over 3500 RPM's. I'm thinking I probably never got over 3500 RPM's. The smart tune always makes some change. THANKS KaponeWKYA

I have a 2007 Roadglide. The only performance mods are Vance & Hines slipons and K&N air filter. I have had it to 117mph before. It may have had more, but I didn't. This past Saturday I go with a group of fast moving cars on I-81. I was riding 2-up at 90mph for 35 miles at one time hitting 100. The bike seemed very stable and comfortable withthose rpms. I had on only an 8" windshield on my sharknose and the wind was L-O-U-D. When we stopped the OL asked where the fire was!
The 6-speed bikes are geared for approximately 26mph per 1,000rpm in sixth gear, so at 100mph the engine is only turning at below 4,000rpm. If you have a red line at 5,500rpm the theoretical speed at those revs is an eye watering 143mph! Plainly our bikes don't have enough power to push to those sorts of speed, so using fifth gear is the right thing to do.
Even my old Evo is over-geared running 22mph per 1,000rpm in top (fifth) gear, from the point of view of going flat out. My S&S motor will safely run to over 6,000rpm, but that is 132mph and I am no more likely to go that fast as a twincam is to go to 140+!
