My friend has an 08 Electra Glide Classic and is experiencing a high Idle, I know I have read on here that its a simple fix, but I can't seem to find it when I search.
Can someone direct me to the service bulletin, or instructions on how to reset it to get the normal idle back
You reset the throttle position sensor by turning the ignition **** , with the kill switch in run, on for five seconds, off for five seconds, for three cycles. Tell him to make sure that he is not rolling the throttle forward when he is turning the bike off as this is the suspected cause. I make sure my hand is completely off the throttle and have no problems at all.
Ok, He tried it (off and on 4 times) It helped, but it's still high (about 1200 RPM's) after its warmed up. He said the dealer did a download to his ECM the last time this happened, it was fine until now.
They told him that there is also a cruise control issue with the 08's that can cause a high idle, any idea's on the fix for that?
It is recommended anytime you replace ECM, TGS or reflash the calibration to cycle the ignition switch 4 times, waiting 10 full seconds after keying off between cycles, to relearn zero TGS position.

OK thanks, we waited about 20 sec in between each turn of the switch. We will try again, and make sure there is pause of 10 sec this time.
Clean the contacts at the plug where it goes into the induction module as well. TT380 shows the updated ECM flash, but you stated that was already done.
2008 ultra, 96ci, my engine was running at 2000 rpm, took a ride, thinking myabe something was clogged, didnt work..... i tried the reset procedure as follows... "with the kill switch in run position,,, turned the ignition **** on for five seconds, off for ten seconds, for three cycles. . . then flipped the kill switch off, turned the ignition on, then the kill switch to on until the computer rebooted, fired it up, it fired up at 1200 rpm and immediately dropped to 1000rpm,
makes me very happy, thanks all for the info!
