Has anybody here done the 88 to 110 Big Bore conversion? I'm real close to going with the 95" kit with SE heads, cams, blah, blah, blah and out of the wild blue the Service Mgr. hits me up with an offer to do a 110" kit on my 05 Ultra.
I'm guessing that to take an 88 to 110 it would require breaking the cases installing a the " 103 flywheel" and then doing the top end with the 110 components,,,
to take the 96' to 110 all that is done is the top end.. It could be done.. it all depends if you want to break the cases..
ORIGINAL: rhinoevans..Any guess on the labor cost for the 07 110 upgrade???
Also, if you have it done, is it better to break it in first, or have it done right off the show room floor???
If I was ordering a new bike, it'd be done before I put the first mile on it.
The local shop just got the case boring fixture and new dril press to handle it. I've been told (and read) that the cases need to be bored out for the 110 jugs, and stroker crank and flywheels installed. I really wonder if there also needs to be a larger throttle body, etc. to handle the extra cubes?
He's giving me a hard quotes on the 95" and 110" builds.
In all honesty, I have ne problem with the 95" build but breakin' the motor down and boring the cases could lead to trouble. I'm not real keen on using by "baby" as the test bike .
For what it's worth..... THe MoCo had their big demo rig set up at local dealership two weeks ago and I took the opportunity to ride one of the new 110's.
I rode a 110" S/E Springer. I must say this it was one of the best LOOKING bikes I've seen come out of the factory! My favorite thing about the bike was the GRIPS when we got back from our 20'ish mile ride. That is not meant to be funny or a jab, the bike had great grips.
As for ride.... well, it was ok, but it certainly was not good or very comfortable.
Power..... [&:] uh.....mmmm..... I was sorely dissapointed! My RG would smoke it up to approx 4500 PRM's. After 4500, it pulls pretty good, but not what I'd consider great.
Admittedly, this was a bone stock 110, and it was a "B" motor, but it was a Screamin Eagle bike..... I would be REALLY pissed if I had sunk a bunch of $$$ into that and still get smoked by a 95" bagger!
Do yourself a huge favor and do plenty of research, there are simple things you can do to 95" and/or 98" builds that will get ya a LOT more, for a LOT LESS!!!!
