Installing speedo/tach combo on 05 RoadKingClassic - problems!
I'm looking for answers. I'm not sure why this is a problem, it's only invisible text. I hope people don't print them, as I too would hate to unnecessarily kill extra trees over this. I'm just looking for answers on this. There are a few issues where people had this same problem but never followed up on the cure. I'd be more pissed at those posts. There is no answers anywhere about this on the net, so I need to target people that may be reading one post but not the other. Just common sense. I've never understood why people get so concerned over this. It is apparent that the solution should be out there somewhere. HD is selling parts that cannot be installed as a replacement for a broken unit. Most people upgrade, so these speedos work in that situation. I have a hell of a time trying to break my Harley. It's 15, and it wont break. I get one little issue and there is no solution? I'd like to focus on answers that help instead of criticisms of the way I get answers. I don't understand the offense It generates for posting in relevant forums. I didn't post this in irrelevant forums.
Please provide a list of places where I can only post, and I'll go back and change these.

i'm not entirely sure that you aren't trying to use a newer procedure on an older bike..... i have no direct experience with the speedo/tach that you are trying to install, but i did do a speedo replacement in the wife's bike. installed cvo gauges in place of her stock ones. hers was a 2012, as opposed to your 05. but, there was no data transfer cable procedure or anything like that. i had to order the speedo with a certain mileage set from the factory. then when her bike reached that mileage, i just pulled the old one out, put the new one in, and rode it for 31 miles until it locked to the ecm.
i wish you luck.
