Easy solution, trailer it to Sturgis. I hear it's how all the hipsters get there.

If tread looks good should be ok and keep in mind if you do need one you can find good deals on tires and specially on installation around $ 50. Tire life depends on riding style I never get more then 8K but wife can easily get 14K on her UC.

I get 16,000-17,000 miles on my Elite 3s so I wouldn't consider changing them at 8,000 miles.

Get a tread depth gauge at auto parts store. Measure your remaining tread. Go to the dealer. Measure tread depth on new bike. Do the math. Replace them when they are worn. Owners manual has specs. Replace on trip if necessary. Don't guess, measure your remaining tread.

This is the only way to calculate what "YOU" will get out of the remaining tread depth.

I really hate tossing out a tire with miles left on it. Even if you have to replace the tire out in the middle of nowhere, you have to calculate the cost/mile that you are throwing away if you replace the tire before it's used up; because that's part of what you're paying for that new tire if you replace the old one before it is worn out. By used up, I mean the wear bars are showing.

alot of different options in sturgis, and the prices aren't bad either. I'm in kinda the same predicament, i have 5k on mine now and i'm going to Yellowknife,NT 2300 miles one way, i'm hoping to make it home and get them changed in Sturgis on the way back. Just my .02 cents
