Default Biketronics stereo kit installed into 2009 FLHT

I just got done installing my Biketronics stereo retro kit into my 2009 FLHT. The basic all around kit is great. There is one thing that I had an issue with and it was the two small wood spacers that came with the kit. I had to sand them down a bit to fit, but it appeared they were made in a way that if needed, they could be sanded down to a level to work, and after I did some sanding, they worked great!!
Overall process was simple. READ the instructions!! I can not say this any louder, READ the instructions! I did and glad I did. The kit is well worth it, loud as hell, sounds great, all the handlebar buttons work. I highly recommend this kit.
Pics hopefully are attached.

I installed the Biketronics kit a couple of weeks ago. I loosened the bolts that secure the upright inner fairing supports so that the radio with the spacer blocks would slide in easier. Then, when I had the radio positioned properly, I retightened the bolts securing the upright inner fairing supports before I bolted the outer fairing back on.

I did find with the Hertz speakers up front, that the horizontal inner fairing supports had to be bent to accomodate the larger magnets.

I also purchased pins from Radio Shack and downloaded the instructions from Biketronics so I could pin my rear speakers without having to run new speaker wires.

I just wish there was an option for a permanently mounted splash cover with a hinge like the older Harley radios had.

Kuryakyn has a stereo accent that has a hinged splash cover. See it here:

Thanks for the link to the spash cover. I've been looking and looking, but havn't found one that would fit, until now.

BTW, my head unit is the marine Sony with the ipod drawer. I just load my music from itunes to a flash drive and set the unit on shuffle. The flash drive or ipod is inside the head unit, so I don't have to mount anything to the handlebars or have a wire pluged into the aux jack. Never hear the same song twice on a weekend of riding 8-10 hours a day.

Nice idea but I wonder if it fits aftermarket radios? The factory HK units are pretty much flush while the Sony/Kenwood/Pioneer decks stick out due to the face plate....

** Just got this note back from Kuryakyn **
It will work without the use of the smoked face cover. If you remove this from the part then the chrome piece will fit no problem. If you have any other questions let us know.

Stanger, if you need more high end you could consider moving the fuel gauge and volt meter to the unused gauge pods either side of the head unit, and put tweeters where the gauges were. Just thinking out loud.

Job looks good and thanks for the time to write it up.

I ordered the Biketronics package for my 2006 Road Glide yesterday will be here Monday. No music since last summer. HK unit took a dump. Hope this system sounds better than the HK junk.
