I just bought an 04 Electra Glide Classic. Warped front rotors when I bought it! Dealer is going to stand behind it and replace rotors and pads.
Now for the background
I test rode an 06 RK and the brakes "pulsed" when comming to a stop. When I returned to the dealership and asked the salesperson about it, they looked at me like I was on crack!
A day later that same sales person rode the bike home and I asked what they thought about the front brake? Dont know what youre talking about was the reply..
Week later this EGC comes in on trade and dealer let me take it home over nite and this one does the same "pulsing" as the 06 RK I demoed! So I thought , it must be a touring thing?? Bought the Electra, rode it for a couple days and finally asked on this forum about the "pulsing" and replys kept comming back saying warped rotor.
Back to the dealer and talked to GM and they will stand behind it.....Going in this morning for repair. The mechanic rode it around the building and said "yup, warped rotor" also said there known for this....
I've got the Harley Teardrop 'floaters' (EBC HH pads). My stock rotor(s) were warped. Couple thousand miles on the floaters with smooth-as-silk braking. (I got the pair from House of HD on eBay, something like $320 shipped.) I would not put new stock rotors back on. (I know how I fried mine, I think. I put new brake pads on, and got it in my head I needed to do a couple of 'panic' stops to break the pads in. Duh. After that, one or the other--or both--caused a 'pulse' when I'd stop. I guess what it taught me is one or two real hard stops...and you'll do in the stock discs).
