I took a long trip (left last Wednesday....went form Atlanta,GA to Chicago, then to Cleveland, then south back to Atlanta) and I had an incredibly positive experience at Wildcat Harley Davidson in London, KY.
I left West Virginia this morning, heading south to come home and got caught in some very heavy rain. Of course I put on the rain suit, but neglected to put on the boot covers. After I got through the storm I stopped to fill the tank and change my socks and boots. When I tried to reset the trip meter, it wouldn't switch. Not thinking much about it, I started the bike, headed toward the highway and at about 20 MPH the speedo and tach dropped to zero, all of the "idiot lights" came on and it displayed a BUS error code. I used the Zumo to find the closest dealer and ended up at Wildcat Harley in London, KY. I got there about 1pm and the service tech wrote me up and and fit me in. I went to the looby to wait (thank GOD they had techs in on Sunday) for what I thought was going to be a long wait. After about an hour, the service advisor came and got me and told me that the tech wanted to see me. My initial thought was, "this can't be good".
The tech (Brock was his name) showed me that the connections had water in them, and he dried them off, re-set the diagnostics and he put the fairing back on. They knew I was a "traveller" and got me back on the bike in less than two hours. On top of that, there was no charge.
Those guys are incredible. I know their dealership is about 5 hours from my house, but DAMN these guys really went out of their way to help me. I was ready to be stranded. Makes me want to buy my next bike from them.
I could not be more impressed. I'm definitely going to be writing a letter to the dealer.....and it may not seem like much, but I'm sending Brock a couple of tee shirts from my local dealer. Anyone have any other recommendations about how to get these guys the recognition they deserve.
Send the tech a gift card for some restaurant, that would go a whole lot further. Just a thought. Glad you got good service. That's my one real worry on road trips, whether by car or bike.
i stopped at wildcat on the way through from ohio to North carolina
that is an awesome dealership, biggest one i have been to. tons of clothing and accessories
and the lady who is at the desk when you first walk in is very nice. i talked to her for abuot 15 minutes or so asking about a few roads around there that are good to ride, and some directions.
she pointed me to some good roads, and wanted to hear more about our plans for our trip.
great sales people there as well, got me into a nice pair of riding boots!
I live about 30 miles from Wildcat H-D. They are the best people you will ever meet!!! They are always willing to help. I bought my last bike which is a street glide of course from them. Awesome people!!!!!!
