Sturgis with my oldest son before I get too old! About 1,600 miles. In fact, about ANY long father and son trip! God I love my kids!!!
Want to do a long, long father/son trip....been many years since we've done any trip together!...I think a two day canoe trip when he was twelve! He's 34! ...it's long over due....time flies...
My grandfather was a H-D experimental department employee and test rider. I have a log book from a 1948 test trip to Arizona and back from Milwaukee. I have daily records of the entire trip including lodging for each evening, 16 days and 5,002 miles round trip. I would like to replicate this trip at some time.
There is a book out called "the old man and the Harley"- you should read it if you get a chance. It is pretty good. A little corny in parts put it is still good.
As for me. I want to ride to Calif and back. Hope I can retire young enough to do it.
Dakar race, the rest of the US , the rest of Europe (Southern), Singapore to Thailand mountains, Hadrians wall, Ireland, China, St Petersburg to Beijing run, 4 corners, Iran Iraq border (on dirt bike), Himalayas .
I live in the UK, my dream is to spend 3 months touring the States when I retire. The other dream I always had was to ride over the Khyber pass. I first dreamt that up when I was a teenager but first the Russians, then the Taliban got in the way so I guess that ain't gonna happen in my life time. Maybe a long ride to Sicily down one side of Italy and up the other.
First to see my wifey graduate up to a Harley as soon as her skills improve to that stage.
Second to see my son and daughter riding their own Harleys.
Third would be for the wife and I to jump on our bikes and just start in a direction and ride that way til we get bored with it. Stop spin the wheel and head off in another direction following that pattern til we cant take it anymore.
Riding just to ride with no real destination, just enjoying each day with no expectations.

What a very cool thing to do! He will be smiling at you for that one!
