What are the plus and minus of each? a friend says he did a cam and had head work done and is about 100hp. another friend says to put the 103 kit in and cam for about the same hp.This is on a 96 cu. would like to hear peoples opinions.
Put a set of Woods 555 cams in your 96, get a tuner, and dyno the bike. Aproximately $1500.00 if dealer does it. You'll run away from that 103. Awesome set of Cams. Enjoy your ride
I think you would gain more with headwork, cam and dyno but the headwork alone could be $400-$900.Then you would have to pay more labor.
Also you will have to consider exhaust, air cleaner and a tuner if you dont have this stuff.
Just depends on what you want.

My answer would be to check out Fuel moto, give Jamie a call, he'll get you going, and if you don't want to do the work yourself, the prices are good also.
Thanks, I think I will call a couple shops today and get prices and their opinions. Anyone with either thing done to theirs let me know how happy you are with your setup
Well I had headwork and cams done to my 'o6 Road Glide when I went to a 95".
The bike ran flawlessly and the fuel mileage was 45 city/hwy.I had an Indy do all the work and it did cost.
I like the way my 103 runs with just the FM stuff so I'm not going to dump more money into it.

Since your displacement increase is to 103", I assume you have a TC96? If that is the case, the displacement upgrade and cams would be the better option. The heads on the '07 and later models flow much better than in previous years. If you can afford to incorporate headwork into the 103"/cam upgrade, that's even better as you can select a cam and have the heads worked to match the characteristics of the cams. Of course, you can always defer the headwork as a future upgrade.
If you go the 103" route and since the heads will be off, install a .030" Cometic MLS head gasket with reassembling the top end.
Check my sig. Myself I'd leave the 96'' jugs and do cams. As stated above the stock heads flow well. I went to SE heads for the ACR"s. They did nothing for HP or TQ. That bitch sure sounds good though. True duals did not cool down my bike nor did any of the other mods. I get about 40 mpg average and really like my bike. It pulls great and reliability has not suffered.
