Angry Cruise Control Failed Again

Last weekend my rear brake switch failed causing the brake light to stay on continuously for a while and then the brake lights wouldn't work. I also lost the ability to engage cruise control. When I got home I disconnected the rear brake switch and the brake lights worked with the front brake lever and cruise control also worked. Since I had 6 days left on the 2 year warranty, I set up an appointment with the dealer who can't get me in until Aug. 4th.

We went for a ride last night and everything still worked including cruise control.

We went for a 100 mile ride tonight and were cruising down the highway when the cruise control all of a sudden disengaged and I was unable to re-engage it. Not only that but the 6th gear light went out on the dash and wouldn't come back on. When we got home, I checked and the rear brake lights still worked with the front brake lever. By the way, I had left the rear brake switch disconnected and had zip tied the loose connection to make sure it didn't flop around.

I have a 2010 Limited as shown in my sig.

Any ideas as to what the h*ll is going on now? This is p*ssing me off.

Duke!

Not only do we have identical bikes with the same equipment, I was having the SAME effing problem!!! FINALLY, someone on this forum, as usual, told me to try this....

Open your PCV software Under “Harley ECM Configuration” do not check “Diagnostic Port Enabled”!!

It is usually checked, un-check it!! Since I have done that, the six gear light/cruise control problem has absolutely STOPPED! I also downloaded the most current PCV firmware.

GOOD LUCK BROTHER!!
