That's what I thought. I am going to try a heli coil first if that fails go the used head route
there are two pairs of heads on ebay for 200 bucks a pair. talk to the seller. he says he bought two bikes, and had the heads pulled right on the dealer floor.
I bought a pair of takes offs that have less than 500 miles last week for 250 to have sent out for MCR installs, then I'll put them on my bike. The heads showed up in the condition claimed.
seriously, don't screw around with that helicoil solution. I know a lot of folks that have had spark plugs shoot thru their hoods after putting in helicoils. you don't want to get shot in the leg with a spark plug.

I have been looking at the different sites pricing whats for sale. Most of the heads I've found are black and I have an EGS so mine are silver. But I know of a set of black cylinders and pistons for sale for 50.00 and I was thinking I could put black ones on. What do you think black cylinders and heads on a silver crankcase and tranny would it look frankensteined

Heli coil it. After its done, tighten the plug down like its a regular thread and if it tightens fine, then you are good to go.
And yes, it would look frankensteined with black jugs/heads and silver cases.

Black heads on silver cylinders/cases is cool; different. I run my 107" '02 FLHT that way; I would post pics but I have the top end off right now for a rebuild. $50 is a great deal but if I were you, I would spend more money and get a set of '06, or later; much better. Install them on your cylinders with .030" Cometic MLS head gaskets and you will think it a different bike.
