I just finished up a set of 10" on my 2010 SG ... My project was Murphy's law, what could go wrong went wrong. Basic installation of the bars is straight forward. Getting the throttle wire and the control wires down the same side took an act of congress. It seems that some SG the FBW has two but connectors and some do not mine did. This caused havoc pulling around the curve. I could get that TBW through but when i came to the control wire i could not fish it through. I ended up taking the bars to a local indy shop and had them fish the right hand side.
Got everything installed and went to run the bike making sure all wires worked and the ignition locked on start up after i turn off.... I had to remove and reset. The manual was no help on this one. Once the key and spring were installed i was able to unlock the ignition and unlock the steering column to finish the job. I was able to reuse the brake cable but not the clutch cable. Anyone who did this job in five hours either does this everyday or just got lucky , my hats off to you. First impression of the bars riding is a big fat *** grin that has been on my face the last two days....

Great video find Louie. If I was so inclined to take this job on myself, I would expect that this video would be a big help. For me however, it just solidified the fact that I will never attempt such a thing, AND, I won't bitch about the high cost of this job at my local H-D or Indy shop...holy crap that is a lot of steps to have to go through for a set of handlebars.
I went with the 12's. I was thinking 10's and the whole hands not above the fairing but read everyone saying to go bigger than you think. I love the 12's. I'm a big guy (6'6", 37" sleeve) so I could go even taller but I'm happy with the 12's.
I got the supersize kit from Yaffe and ponied up for the black pearl setup. Don't forget the heavy duty bushings. The whole kit from Yaffe was like $500 (a little more but can't remember exactly). That was black pearl cables and black chrome fittings, wiring, bushings, everything. I think this is the most expensive setup you can get...of course.. The plain black cables with silver/factory style fittings was more like $225 I think.
Doing bars is NOT cheap so try to be as sure as you can be before you pull the trigger. Going to attach a semi-crappy photo of mine. I'm putting in the stereo system this weekend and will grab a few more shots then maybe.

Wiring up a set of 12's now and the throttle side is definately a chore. Did you run the control and TBW wires at the same time or did you make two pulls? I've got the control wires in and getting the TBW is being a b**ch to go thru. Thanks in advance for the info.
I cut out the plug and soldered the wires (after I destroyed the plug trying to pull it) then pulled it through in one pull. As I said, I've done lots of bars on lots of different bikes, these are the toughest. Not technically difficult just horrible pulling the right side bundle of wires around the bends. Everything else is easy.

These are by far the worst bars I've found to wire. Had to resolder last night as well. Got the TBW thru and now having issues getting the throttle insert to fit.
We are putting our PrimeApes on an 05' roadking that only has a 6-pin connector, and it was a breeze! Didnt even have to lube it. You can see from the video posted, the new Ultra has twice as many wires and we had to grease it up thick to get it to slide through the bars. And our bars are relatively smooth on the inside because we cut them with a lazer not a saw. I'm glad heated grips dont fit our bars, cuz I dont believe any more wires can fit through.....
Anyone have problems getting the TBW insert to fit? Looks like I might have to spend some quality time with a round file. I must say, I ordered several Yaffe parts for this build, and compared to PM and Klock Werks, Yaffe's parts just do not measure up. Not impressed at all with the details. For the money asked for these parts I expected more. PM and Klock Works parts are well made and fitment/prep have been excellent.
Update on my progress with my bars.... took the bike this weekend on a 150 mile trip. On my way back in the bike just turned itself off like it ran out of gas.
I am not sure what the heck went up but i had to get the bike towed. The neutral light comes on and the the light for the gear your in is on but all the rest of the lights when you turn the ignition switch dont come on the the engine light on the gauge and the fuel pump does not go into prime so the starter does not engage. I have checked all of my wires from the bars seems to have continuity . I am wondering if my newly installed Thunder Max has gone up. I did not have my old ecm with me to switch out to see. Has anyone else had this problem?
