FWIW- I bought a black rack from Brian for 2010 RG. Just came back from 6000 mile 8 state road trip with my wife on the back and a fully loaded Tour-pak. Rack looks perfect. I'm not sure if new frame design is better. Looking at those pictures.........That must have been one heavy laptop!
Post a couple of pics of your rack when you can; thanks.
I have mounted my tourpak at the furthest back position and have been using it fully loaded with passenger for multiple road trips. It is still tight and looks as new. I think the newer model frame mounting points may be slightly further apart reducing the leverage on the front mount.
Man there are a lot of variations of this rack.. The last two look very similar to mine, but not the same.. LWNBoy's looks VERY close, but I think the lower tab on his forward mount is a little thicker than mine was.. It's hard me to say as I didn't take any before pictures and the bent metal could have distorted considerably in the process...
RoadRunner's rack looks similar but doesn't appear to use the same rear mounts...
Well, I can say Im a little dissapointed that I havent heard back from Nick at MB yet. I sent an email on Aug. 20th, just asking what his thoughts were on the tour pac rack, being that I have heard of some that have failed. No response......I didnt even complain or ask for my money back just yet. I was just looking for his thoughts on the situation.
