Well, HD Milwaulkee has now pushed the expected release date to 11-09 for the "top plate" which is the real culprit for the shell failures, it warps and causes the shell undue stress and eventually cracks, WTF, bike is still @ dealer after 6 weeks, with no real date of the top plate release, HD said "so sorry, nothing we can do...we can not include the top plate part in the recall", even though numerous Service Managers agree the top plate is the cause of the shell failure, and the fact that the part is not even close to being available, this is really shitty of HD, its all about the $ again and very poor quality control and support of us owners.
They certainly could take a top plate from a new bike and install it in yours and wait for the new part to come in to put in the new bike. Dealers do it all the time with various parts................it's called customer service. No way in hell I would let my bike sit at a dealer for six weeks waiting for that part. Shitty of the dealer IMO.
Thanks Dawg, it seems as though you work for a dealer? Anyway, yea dealer said no to swapping the part off a new bike, they claim is mounts differtly than the 08, right...so still waiting...yea your right on the customer service now... thanks again for your comments. Tom

Hahaha, that's a good one. Just so you are aware, the top plate itself is 75147-08B and shows active (i.e. not on backorder) the top plate assembly which includes all the other parts is 75069-08C which is on backorder until 11-09 like you were told. If you look at the pic below and all you need is #19, then they are screwing with you because it is active and available. They are trying to get you #17 which is the whole kit and kaboodle.
If it were me, I would bring all this information in and demand to talk to the owner........then I'd grab my bike and get it the hell outta there and tell them to shove it and you're going to take your business elsewhere and tell hundreds of people along the way.
My bike started going into limp mode last Thursday. The only code it was showing was P1353, no combustion of the front cylinder. By the time I got it home it was not wanting to start. After checking all the electrical components, I noticed that the plugs were dry so I tried squirting gas in the intake. It fired off immediately. When I pulled the top plate from the tank one ear was badly cracked on the filter shell. I replaced the shell with the latest model (which was much heavier and better designed) and all is well. I did notice that the connection surface on the top plate was not flat and not round either.

So what you are saying is that the top plate is not being improved on. Are the 75147-08B's warping also? I didn't bother to look for the part number of the one that is in my '09 RG.
I just got off the phone with a parts person from one of the local shops after a long discussion about the 75069-08c top plate kits. He did a break down on the kit and it still contains the 75147-08B top plate. The curious thing that he told me was that the current 75147-08B kit which contains only the top plate cost $135 and the new 75069-08C kit which contains the top plate, filter / oring, filter shell, regulator, and hardware will cost $135. I'm waiting on the 75069-08C's to be available unless the bike quits again.
